
Divine Smiles is run by Dr Ram Shanker Das (Das) and Dr Chitra Das (Chitra).
Meet Dr Ram Shanker Das (Das)
Das graduated in 1979 and his credentials are BDS MDS FRACDS. Chitra graduated with a BDS degree in 1986.
In NZ, Das served in the Royal New Zealand Air Force till 2002. Chitra joined the Midcentral Health Hospital Palmerston North and worked in the position of Senior Dental Officer till 2002.
They then migrated to Australia and Das took up the post of Manager Dental Services at the Wingecarribbee Health services, Bowral, a unit of South Western Sydney Area Health service. Chitra worked in the Dental Department as a Dental Officer.
It was there that the idea of settling down and setting up practice in the beautiful and warm city of Brisbane , in the form of Divine Smiles, took shape.
In the midst of these movements, Das also appeared for and cleared the Fellowship Exam of the Royal Australasian college of Dental Surgeons and was admitted as a Fellow in Feb 2003, adding to his credit a very distinguished post nominal.
His special interests are Root canal therapy, surgical extraction of Wisdom teeth, complex oral rehabilitation of worn and / or decayed teeth, and cosmetic dentistry. He has additional training in Root canal therapy, Implants, and Cosmetic Dentistry.
He is a Member of the Australian Dental Association, Endodontic Society of Australia, and the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry and holds an accreditation from the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry.
Meet Dr Chitra Das (Chitra)
Chitra’s special interests include Cosmetic dentistry, Periodontics, and Crown & Bridge work. She has an accreditation in Implant Dentistry from the Australian society of Implant Dentistry, and is a member of the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry. Chitra at present has been training at the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dentistry. She is also interested in Neuromuscular Dentistry (www.lviglobal.com). Neuromuscular Dentistry deals with problems associated with abnormalities associated with the bite position of the patient and associated pains in the neck, back and head. It involves understanding the abnormality by using various scans of the jaw and neck muscles and bringing it into a favourable position of occlusion.
Chitra is also a proud mother of two lovely children Ashwati and Vineet who are aged 21 and 19 respectively doing Aerospace Engineering and Medicine respectively.
Chitra & Das have kept themselves updated with recent developments in Dentistry by meeting the requisites of the Australian Dental Association on Continuing Dental Education.
Meet Dr. Sandhya Rachaputi
Dr. Sandhya Rachaputi lovingly known as" SANDY " joined our team at Divine Smiles in January 2009. She obtained her Bachelors of Dentistry from University of Sydney in December 2008. Her qualifications also include Bachelors in Medical Science from Queensland University of Technology (2004).
Sandhya is interested in all aspects of General dentistry. She regularly attends continuing education courses to keep up to date with the ever changing face of Dentistry. Sandhya works on alternate Saturdays at the practise to provide quality dental care for our patients who are unable to attend during weekdays.
Unlike other graduates Sandhya is very empathetic towards patients, devotes significant amount of time understanding the patients clinical situation and financial comfort while suggesting treatment plans and options. Sandhya is an asset to our team, is very friendly and a team player and has integrated well into our system. We wish her all the best for a long innings at our practice.
